Hunt for man accused of sexual assault in Lancaster

A 15-year-old girl is believed to have been sexually assaulted in a wooded area in Lancaster.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the incident which happened sometime between 7.30pm and 9.30pm on Tuesday June 30 at Lancaster Cricket Club in Lune Road.

It is thought the girl had engaged in conversation with a man near to Lancaster bus station and walked together with him to the train station before they parted ways.

The girl then walked alone on the banking on the cricket ground near to Quay Road when she was approached by the same man, who is thought to have sexually assaulted her in a wooded area.

The man is described as white, thought to be around 17 or 18-years-old, 6ft tall, of a muscular build with shaved hair at the sides and a quiff on the top.

He was wearing black jeans, brown shoes and a blue shirt.

DI 6365 Bev Foster of Lancaster Police said: “Our enquiries are on-going and I would urge anyone who may have seen a man matching this description in the area or who knows anything about the incident to get in touch.

“We believe that there may have been a man passing by around the time and saw the man and the victim together at the cricket club. I would urge him to come forward and pass on any information about what he may have seen. Similarly if anyone has CCTV form the area we would be keen to take a look at this.”
