Help with Shakespeare Eric Morecambe specs dilemma

To be with specs or not to be with specs – that is the question being asked by organisers of a Shakespeare festival in Morecambe.

The team behind ‘The Bard by the Beach’ are trying to decide on a logo for their celebration of William Shakespeare to be held in the town in April 2016.

They have come up with two possible Shakepeare caricatures – one wearing the trademark Eric Morecambe spectacles and one without.

Both are striking the familiar Morecambe and Wise pose.

“So far the votes are leading towards ‘with glasses’ but it would be nice if we could get some more input,” said Ben Muir from organisers Attic Door Productions.

The festival, running from April 21 to 24 2016, will mark the 400th anniversary of the playwright’s death.

Planned events include a performance of The Tempest, a Shakespeare Poetry Slam at the Winter Gardens, a Shakespeare Dinner show at the Midland Hotel, a Renaissance Fair, a ‘Showstopping Shakespeare Musical Cabaret’ show at the Platform and children’s shows and workshops at Morecambe Library.
