Help breastfeeding mums by volunteering for support group

The Breastfeeding Network runs projects across the country with volunteer peer supporters running baby groups, working on maternity wards and visiting mums in their homes to help mums successfully establish breastfeeding whether with their first or fifth child.

The courses will start in September, running for 13 weeks, and will give volunteers the skills to help support mums and their babies.

Two open days are going to be held so anyone interested can find out more about what’s involved.

These will be at Carnforth Clinic on Thursday, July 23 from 10 until noon and at Busy Bees nursery on Overton Road on Monday August 10, from 10am until noon.

Babies, toddlers and older children are welcome too!

Volunteer Coordinator, Claire Selby said “Volunteers are a vital part of the work the Breastfeeding Network does. “We are really keen to recruit some new volunteers who are interested in helping to support mums.

“It is a massively rewarding role. All you need to qualify is to have breastfed your own child, and to be happy to commit some time once you are qualified to volunteering in the community.”
