A new charity has been set up in Lancaster to raise money and awareness for parents who suffer from terminal illness.

Making Memories aims to offer the parent an opportunity to give their children a memory that they can cherish forever. The charity held stalls at festive markets this year, stocked with gift ideas hand knitted mostly by volunteers and Lancaster University’s Knitting Society.

A stall at Lancaster University’s Christmas Market helped to raise almost £600.

Mathew Gillings, President of Making Memories, said: “It was nice to see everyone come together and support our charity. Everyone has worked as a team over the last couple of weeks and the generosity that we have seen in schools and at the university is unbelievable.

“We would like to thank all those who visited our stall and participated in the raffle. Also, we would like to thank all of the businesses who donated prizes which made the raffle possible.”
