Hospital boss: I won’t go

THE boss of the NHS trust which runs the Royal Lancaster Infirmary has said he will not resign amid new claims about the quality of the trust’s services.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has launched an investigation into emergency care at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBFT), which also runs Morecambe’s Queen Victoria Hospital.

The investigation follows CQC reports last July and December which highlighted concerns over maternity and emergency care.

But trust chief executive Tony Halsall said while high level resignations might be “interesting”, they “don’t achieve anything”.
