Health trust chiefs quizzed by council

NEW bosses at the troubled trust which runs the Royal Lancaster Infirmary were questioned by county councillors this week.

Sir David Henshaw, new interim chair of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, and Eric Morton, its interim chief executive, were among those who appeared before Lancashire County Council’s health scrutiny committee on Tuesday.

The hospital’s previous chief executive Tony Halsall resigned after the trust faced criticism from NHS regulator Monitor and adult social care watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC).Problems identified including under-staffing of A&E at the RLI and deaths in the maternity unit at Furness General Hospital in Barrow.
