Horticulture enthusiasts, cooks, bakers and photographers can start planning now for competitions at Lancaster Castle’s special Harvest Festival Weekend (September 28/29).
There will be children’s and adults’ classes for best floral display; home-made jam; edible castle; animal made out of fruit and veg; blackberry and apple pie; harvest wreath - as well as a harvestthemed photography competition.
You can register your interest now by emailing Francesca@lancaster-castle.co.uk for an entrance form which you should return to the NICE @ The Castle Cafe (with a 50p fee for each class entered) by Sunday, September 22.

There’s also going to be a two course Harvest Supper served in the castle’s outside courtyard area at 4pm on Saturday, September 28, £6 per adult and £4 for under 12s – you can ring 01524 848525 to book your place.
Lots more will be going on over that weekend, with a Farmers’ Market, children’s craft workshops, a visit from the castle birds of prey, a vintage tractor, Lancaster Priory’s Sunday short service at the castle, medieval music, flower arranging and wood-carving workshops.
