It’s the beginning of another new year, and everyone at the Lancaster Guardian would like to wish all our readers a very happy New Year.
Here are a few goodwill messages from local people, including many names which will be familiar to regular Guardian readers, to see you into 2015...
Nicola Adam, Guardian editor
I would like to wish readers, supporters and advertisers of the Lancaster Guardian newspaper and website a very happy new year. There is no doubt that Lancaster is a city on the up. We have overcome and achieved a lot this year and the new year brings a real sense – as the new branding says – of a ‘small city, big story’. We look forward to bringing you all the big stories over the next 12 month.
Lancaster MP Eric Ollerenshaw
To all the readers of the Lancaster Guardian, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and let us hope continued economic progress!
Morecambe & Lunesdale MP David Morris
Happy New Year to all of my constituents in Morecambe and Lunesdale. I hope 2015 will be as successful as 2014 with unemployment continuing to fall and more investment in our area. A prosperous New Year to you all!
Coun Ron Sands, Lancaster City Council Cabinet member for culture
In 2015 Lancaster can look forward to a new era of positive publicity for the heritage of our historic county town. We will show the world that Lancaster’s heritage is authentic and distinctive, not manufactured for a mass tourism package that crowds out the vital contribution a proud, local Lancastrian population makes to our very special “sense of place”.
Guardian columnist Jo Worgan
Thank you for all of your kind comments and words of encouragement. I love writing this column and sharing my ups and downs with you, I just hope that is helps parents out there to feel less alone as well as raising more awareness about autism. Have a fantastic 2015.
Guardian columnist Roger Salmon
To all our clients and in particular their pets, I would like to wish them a Happy new year on behalf of Bay Vets.
Have yourselves a very Happy New Year, or as they say in Italia, ‘Felice Anno Nuovo’, and read all my forthcoming Italian escapades !
Guardian columnist John Halewood-Dodd
A happy and prosperous New Year from all at LHD solicitors.
Guardian columnist Gary Rycroft
Best wishes for 2015 and a piece of advice – get a few things in the diary to look forward to including The Dukes’ Production of Oliver Twist in Williamson Park from July 3 to August 15. Think of those lovely summer days, picnics, sunsets...
Guardian columnist Anna Clayton
I hope 2015 is a year full of happiness, health and adventure for all Lancaster Guardian readers, and that New Years Day signals the start of many local food pledges! Happy New Year everyone.
Guardian columnist Jane Binnion
I’m all too aware that 2014 has been a real struggle for so many local people. My New Year wish is that 2015 sees the growth that we all need. Happy New Year lovely Lancaster people.
Rev Chris Newlands, vicar of Lancaster
As we come to make resolutions for the New Year – let us seek to resolve to make a difference to our society, by contributing something of value to the greater good of our community in Lancaster.
Anglican Bishop of Lancaster, Rev Geoff Pearson
In the Bible we are encouraged to ask. It takes a certain humility and lack of pride but try it. It could be you find a new and rich resource for life’s great challenges.
