Lancashire County Council’s Environment team has funded the plan, which aims to identify where there are further opportunities for improvement.

Coun David Smith, Cabinet member with responsibility for parks and open spaces, said: “Happy Mount Park is visited by tens of thousands of people every year and is one of the resort’s most popular attractions.

“It is a tremendous success and we’re keen to make sure it stays that way, as well as looking at ways we can make improvements.

“The aim of the masterplan is to identify where there are opportunities for further improvement and develop an action plan for the future of the park over the next 20-30 years.”

A valuable aspect of the completed masterplan will be that it puts into place a plan which can be quickly implemented in the event that funding becomes available from external sources such as the lottery or government initiatives.

Lancaster City Council is asking people to shape the future of Morecambe’s Happy Mount Park by commenting on the draft masterplan.Friends of the park and officers from Lancaster City Council will be holding a consultation event this Saturday, August 30, between 2pm and 4pm.
