Gang members are focus of campaign

THE mug shots of an organised crime gang involved in drug dealing in Lancaster and Morecambe are featured in a new leaflet campaign.

The criminal activities and consequent anti-social behaviour of the gang, headed up by 27-year-old Anthony Diprose and his 26-year-old brother Jason, led residents on Lancaster’s Ryelands estate to feel threatened and intimidated.

The group are now behind bars, with sentences totalling more than 67 years.

Local neighbourhood police teams are currently carrying out reassurance work on the estate, where many of the gang lived and where they based their drug dealing business.

Behind Bars leaflets are now being hand delivered by officers as part of a joint initiative between Lancashire Constabulary and Lancashire Police Authority.

The leaflets are designed to inform local communities about the action taken by police officers to see offenders who have affected a particular neighbourhood brought to justice.

They provide reassurance that, if other problems emerge, police will deal with these issues while encouraging residents to work with officers to keep their community safe.
