Local sight loss charity, Galloway’s Society for the Blind, have been shortlisted for two local charity of the year partnerships with supermarket giant Sainsbury’s.

Sainsbury’s Local, in Lancaster, and Sainsbury’s, Morecambe have both shortlisted Galloway’s Society for the Blind to be their chosen charity of the year which will now go to a public vote before a final decision is made.

Anna Eddowes-Scott, community fundraiser at Galloway’s, said: “To have been short listed by one Sainsbury’s store is amazing, but we were absolutely over the moon when we discovered we had been short listed for two.

“This is a great reflection of the wide reaching impact that Galloway’s services and support have for people living with sight loss.

“Voting has now gone to a public vote and we’re urging the local community to vote for Galloway’s in person at the Sainsbury’s stores or online.”

The Lancashire charity supports more than 7,000 blind and partially sighted people every year through a variety of services and need to fundraise £1m this year to continue supporting the local community.

To vote visit the stores or go to www.sainsburyslocalcharity.co.uk/ and enter the postcode LA4 5TJ for Morecambe and LA1 1XN for Lancaster and select Galloway’s.
