Four injured in M6 crash

TWO adults and two children were cut from a car after it careered off the M6 and hit a concrete pillar.

The accident happened on the southbound stretch of the motorway between junctions 32 and 33 at Stubbins just after 8am today, Friday.

It is believed the BMW car left the motorway, travelling up the embankment and hitting a concrete pillar.

Firefighters from Fulwood attended the scene, using cutting equipment to free three of the passengers from the vehicle by 9am.

A woman and child were taken to hospital by ambulance, while a man and a second child were airlifted to hospital.

Their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

The incident caused tailbacks on the motorway for almost two hours.
