Former Lancaster University student's red carpet fever

It has been a roller coaster ride for one former Lancaster University student.

Amy Harvey packed up her bags to make it as an actress in Hollywood last year and is now working her way up the red carpet.

Since the Visitor last spoke to Amy in July she has filmed two films and has attended four red carpet events in Los Angeles.

The 23-year-old is also through to the final casting of a major horror film based on Shark attacks in Fiji.

Although Amy constantly has to contend with the competitive lifestyle she explains she is having the time of her life.

She said: “I love it out here and I feel it’s the best place I could possibly be right now.

“It has become more normal now, but when I take a minute to think about how I am actually living my dream and filming movies and auditioning for shows, it kind of blows my mind.

“I am so lucky to be able to be here doing this, to have the parents I have who support me the way they do and to have found the kind of people I have found here to surround myself with. It’s crazy!”

The budding actress, who studied theatre at Lancaster University, has starred in ‘Legacy,’ a film about a dramatic murder among a group of girls and ‘Surprise Date’ which involves romance and revenge.

Throughout February Amy is shooting in Santa Clarita for the film ‘Unholy Night’ – a horror about a young couple living in a house which comes alive.

Amy has come a long way since graduating in 2013 and her proudest moment so far has been getting to film with Academy Award nominee Goran Stankovic. She said: “He is a phenomenally talented director who I had the privilege to be directed by in a film we made late last year.

“I learnt so much from him and it was an absolute dream to work him with and his crew. I was cast alongside some very talented actors so for me I really had to dig deep and give a performance worthy of standing next to the others actors.

“It was challenging but we are so happy with the result and I can’t wait to collaborate with him and his team again.”

Life in America is fast-paced for Amy and she explains how the festive period made her long for England.

“I didn’t miss home until Christmas, and then I missed it a lot. Seeing all pictures of cold, cosy England made me very homesick.

“For me, LA just doesn’t have the Christmas winter vibe, it is very much a happy sunny place which is fantastic but over December I just wanted to snuggle up in a jumper.”
