Fire crews were called to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary after automatic alarms sounded at the hospital just before 2.45pm.

The public were asked not to enter the hospital buildings while firefighters investigated the incident.

The call was sparked by a false alarm with good intent, and crews were stood down shortly after 3pm.
