Firefighters called to lorry fire

Firefighters were called out to a blaze on the motorway in the early hours of Tuesday, January 19.

The articulated lorry had pulled over on the hard shoulder of the M6 between junctions 32 and 33 with the tarpaulin cover of the load on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze.

The driver was uninjured after the incident at 2.19am.

The day before at 12.29pm, firefighters were called to Brunswick Road in Heysham after reports of a cat stuck in a tree.

The cat managed to free itself before firefighters arrived.
