‘Facebook Three’ appear in court

THREE men have appeared in court charged with inciting rioting and looting on Facebook.

Karl Manley, 28, of Goldfinch Close, Heysham, pleaded not guilty at Lancaster Magistrates Court on Friday August 19 to encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence (burglary).

He was committed for trial and will appear at Preston Crown Court on August 24.

Stefan Johnson, 21, of Greenfield Street, Lancaster, pleaded not guilty to intentionally encouraging or assisting in the commission of an either way offence believing it would be committed, and was also committed for trial at Preston Crown Court on August 24.

Warren Calvert, 19, of Kingsway, Heysham, who was charged with the same offence as Johnson, was sent straight to Crown Court. He was not required to enter a plea.
