Construction work on a new fire escape at Morecambe Winter Gardens has resulted in extra seating being made available to the originally sold-out show.

Jon Richardson and four comedian friends will be performing at the Morecambe Winter Gardens in aid of the Slyne Road Hospice on Saturday, January 31.

The event, organised by St John’s Hospice, sold out in 24 hours when the initial 450 tickets went on sale at the end of September.

But now the extra capacity means the venue will be able to accommodate up to 600 people.

Evelyn Archer from Morecambe Winter Gardens said: “We are so pleased to get this work completed in time for the hospice comedy event so they can raise some extra money for a great cause, but it will also benefit lots of events in the future here at the Winter Gardens.”

Jon will perform two shows at 3pm and 8pm along with Matt Forde, Lucy Beaumont, Angela Barnes and Pete Firman. Tickets are available at www.sjhospice.org.uk/comedy and are priced at £20. All proceeds go to the hospice and £5 from every ticket will also go to the Morecambe Winter Gardens.
