Turbines given go-ahead at Nether Kellet farmland

A North Lancashire dairy farmer has been given planning permission to site three wind turbines on his land.

Chris Lund, of Pump House Farm, Nether Kellet, told Lancaster City Council’s planning committee that the structures would help him reduce his overheads.

The 17.77 metre 5KW turbines can now go up on a field which lies 240 metres west of Kellet Lane in the village.

Mr Lund’s application attracted some opposition, with Bolton-le-Sands Parish Council arguing they would be a ‘blot on the landscape’.

But councillors heard that planning officials had visited the site and deemed the visual impact would be minimal because of the sloping nature of the landscape and the turbines’ size.
