A snapshot of Dales life

The Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust’s 2014 calendar features some iconic Dales scenes, including Malham Cove, Hardraw Force, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent, to name just a few. 

Each image has been captured on camera by a different photographer, and brought together through a Facebook photography competition, which the Trust ran last year in collaboration with one of its business supporters, Dales Holiday Cottages. 

All of the participating photographers provided their images free, to help the charity to raise vital funds to support its work across the region. 

Sebastian Oake, who took the January image Sheep in Winter at Hubberholme, said: “The Yorkshire Dales National Park is beautiful, we all know that. But maybe we take it for granted a little too much.

“The countryside needs looking after to stay special, which is why I welcome the work of the Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust. I hope this calendar will inspire people to support important projects like planting trees and putting wild flowers back into meadows.” 

Sarah Brewer, fund-raising and marketing officer at YDMT, said: “Our 2014 calendar is a real team effort.

“I’d also like to thank our friends at Dales Holiday Cottages for all their help in encouraging so many talented photographers from across the country to enter our Yorkshire Dales Facebook competition.

“We’re also very grateful to Fever Digital for contributing their design services free to help us produce this lovely calendar.”

All money raised through the sale of the calendar will play a vital role in helping YDMT to continue important projects across the Yorkshire Dales and beyond, including restoring wildlife habitats such as broadleaf woodlands and wildflower hay meadows, education and outreach work, improvements to access, and supporting local community groups and businesses.
