Elderly man involved in bus collision dies

An elderly man who was seriously injured after a collision with a bus has passed away.

Eric Taberner, 77, from Lancaster, suffered serious head injuries after he collided with a single decker Stagecoach bus on Parliament Street, Lancaster at 11.40am on July 8.

The North West Air Ambulance attended the scene but a spokesman revealed the man was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary by road.

It is believed he was later transferred to Royal Preston Hospital where he died today.

And Lancashire police urged anyone who was travelling on the bus to get in touch.

Sgt Nigel Ralphson, of West Road Policing Unit, said: “We would like to speak with anyone on the bus who didn’t provide their details to officers at the time and any other witnesses who may have seen the collision but weren’t in a position to leave their details.”
