SIXTH forms could open at Central Lancaster High School and Carnforth High School in September.
And the schools could form a federation with Our Lady’s Catholic College and Heysham High School, which already have sixth forms.
Pupils could be bused between the four sites for lessons depending on the subjects they study.
No new buildings will be required to house the new sixth forms, which between them would accommodate 100 students.
Just 10 new pupils would be admitted to the new sixth form at each school, with many GCSE pupils expected to stay on.
