Former Dallam student and head boy Russell Cooper recently presented prizes as principal guest at the Dallam School Senior Awards Evening.
Russell, who is now a chartered accountant in London, appeared in the press earlier this year when he completed the London Marathon just four months after emergency spinal surgery.
Russell awarded prizes to students for their achievements at A-level and International Baccalaureate.
Past Year 10, 11 and 12 students received awards for progress, citizenship and academic achievement and individual subject scholarships were enjoyed across Years 11 who had the best GCSE results the school has seen in many years.
Duke of Edinburgh Gold, Silver and Bronze awards featured highly in the sports awards. Dallam musicians accompanied the proceedings, which were held at St Peter’s Church at Heversham.
Head William Bancroft said: “Whether it is gaining a place at Oxford or Cambridge, achieving a GCSE against all the odds or working hard to support others, our students need celebrating.
“Without them, none of this success would be possible. They are truly exceptional and on behalf of the staff I would like to congratulate them on their achievements.”
