Lancaster slips down world university rankings

Lancaster University is ranked 131st in the world in an influential survey published today.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings ranked Lancaster level with the University of Stockholm and one place ahead of Leeds.

But the university has slipped seven places since last year, when it ranked 124th.

Lancaster got an overall score of 49.7 and got good marks for its international outlook (78.6) and citations (75.4) but did less well for industry income (27.5) and teaching (32.6).

Oxford, the top rated British university was ranked fourth in the world. Top of the table was the California Institute of Technology.
