Getting back into study is easy Access

Adult returners at Lancaster and Morecambe College are being offered a second chance at improving their educational skills.

The college’s Access Diploma gives adults a second opportunity to return to studying and earn an A Level equivalent qualification, if, perhaps they took a break from education or are looking for a change in career.

Designed to help adult learners progress both their knowledge and confidence, the Access course provides a stepping-stone to higher education and is a popular choice for adults who have been out of education for a long time.

Studnts who have taken advantage of the course say large portion have to balance family life, work and college at the same time,so achieving the diploma can be a challenge for some, but it is always rewarding.

Success stories range from people like Shahina Patel whop was out of education for 20 years before deciding to become a teacher and is now studying Primary Education with Inclusion at the University of Cumbria.

Mum, foster carer and businesswoman Michelle Cowell wants to become a child psychologist for children in care in the future, so chose the Access Diploma because it was flexible.
