A SILVERDALE children’s home which has caused concern to village residents for years closed suddenly last weekend.

The private Ridgway Park School, which opened in 2001 to cater for children aged 11-16 with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties, closed on Saturday without warning.

Its parent company, Ridgway Children’s Services Limited, based in Blackburn, went into liquidation in February.

But two of its directors, John Dixon Bolton and Joseph Foster, gave notice in the London Gazette that they would be carrying on the business under the name Ridgway Park School Limited – trading as Ridgway Children’s Services Limited.

Nobody at Ridgway Children’s Services was available for comment.
