Driver hurt as sheep on loose

All lanes are now open on junction 36-37 after a collision between a lorry and a car towing a trailer.

Morecambe Fire and Rescue and Cumbria Fire and Rescue attended junction 36 A590 (Kirkby Lonsdale) and J37 A684 (Kendal).

The trailer was carrying sheep which are roaming around on the carriageway.

A man in his 70s has suffered chest injuries and has been taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The road heading away from Lancaster towards Penrith has been closed since around 2pm with no estimated time of reopening.

Traffic is being diverted to rejoin the carriageway at J37.
