Driver hits wheelbarrow between junctions 32 and 33 of M6

A team of traffic officers were sent to the scene between junction 32 Broughton and junction 33 Galgate of the motorway on Tuesday at 5.26pm.

Overheard matrix signs on the motorway displayed warnings about the wheelbarrow in the carriageway between the middle lane and the slow lane but before officers arrived, a car had already hit it and ended up in the hard shoulder.

A spokesman for Highways England said there was damage to the vehicle but luckily the driver was not injured.

The spokesman said: “This is a good example of why we put the signs up warning drivers but unfortunately the driver hit the wheelbarrow.”
