Don a blindfold and raise cash for charity

Find a friend, wear a blindfold and run 5k all in aid of Galloway’s Society for the Blind.

Galloway’s is launching its first ever Blindfold Run taking place in Morecambe.

The run will take place on Morecambe promenade (starting opposite the Winter Gardens) and participants will run as a pair, one blindfolded and one as a guide.

There will also be a one mile family fun run/walk so that everyone of any fitness and age can take part.

All proceeds will go towards Galloway’s Society for the Blind.The run is on Sunday, May 17, 2015 from 10.30am until 1.30pm.

Galloway’s Society for the Blind is committed to ensuring that blind and partially sighted people have opportunities the sighted world take for granted.

There are centres in Morecambe, Penwortham, Chorley and Southport.

The charity’s services are available to anyone in the area with a visual impairment.

Galloway’s is a local charity that provides services including specialist equipment and advice, talking newspaper, training, escorted holidays and short trips, outdoor activities, support groups, hospital information service, general information, advice and guidance.

Galloway’s recently took over the for mer offices of The Visitor newspaper on Victoria Street in Morecambe, and plan to develop the building, with help from top designer Wayne Hemingway and his London-based hemingway Design firm, into a facility specifically designed for visually impaired people.
