Defib joy for Lancaster road policing team

Officers at a Lancashire Road Policing team will give new meaning to a ‘jump-start’ after securing four pieces of lifesaving equipment from local health services.

Earlier this year four defibrillators were presented to Lancashire Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit (RPU) based at Lancaster.

The defibrillators, which provide a high energy electric shock to re-start the heart’s rhythm, will now be placed in each vehicle in the city’s fast response unit fleet allowing officers to use them during accidents and emergencies.

The life-saving equipment was given to Sgt Finn Quainton of Lancashire Constabulary’s Roads Policing Unit by Chris Hyde, the Community Resuscitation Manager for Cumbria and Lancashire North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Sgt Quainton said: “Chris has been incredibly generous in supplying Lancashire Constabulary’s RPU, based at Lancaster, with these four units, to supplement the three units which we already use.”
