A doting daughter is planning to shave her hair off to raise funds and support her mum who has lung cancer.

Ellie Peatman will cut all her hair off this Thursday, August 13, to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 17-year-old came up with the idea after her mum was diagnosed with lung cancer, with secondary tumours in her brain, in March.

As the Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School pupil witnessed her mum’s hair start to thin due to treatment, she decided to shave off her hair and donate it to the Little Princess Trust.

Ellie initially set her target at £500, but the figure rose to £1,000 in 24 hours. Now the figure is near £3,500 and the support from the community has overwhelmed the whole family.

Ellie said: “The amount of support from family and friends has been amazing.

“So ‘hairs’ to Little Princess Trust, and funds raised to Macmillan, for all their help over the past few months and for the near future.”

Ellie’s shave will take place at Jo and Cass in Lancaster at 1pm on Thursday.
