Dappy withdraws from Morecambe Carnival

RnB star Dappy is out of of this weekend’s Morecambe Carnival.

The N’Dubz singer and rapper has withdrawn from Sunday’s live music extravaganza on Morecambe promenade.

The Bay radio, who are organising the music stage in the Bay Arena with more than 30 top acts, were informed earlier today of Dappy’s withdrawal and have apologised to fans.

Phil Rodgers, programme controller of the Lancaster radio station, said: “The show must go on, and we’ve got a packed line up with some great names for you to see.

“It’s guaranteed to be a brilliant show and we can’t wait to host The Bay live stage for you once again this year at Morecambe Carnival. Bring on the party on the prom this Sunday!”

The carnival pop music bill includes 1990s boy band 911, 2005 X Factor winner Shayne Ward, 2014 X Factor eight-piece boy band Stereo Kicks, former The Voice winner Jermain Jackman, X Factor 2013 runner-up Nicky McDonald, Lancaster’s own X Factor star Paul Akister, Black Lace, 12-year-old Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Henry Gallagher and popular pop group Everyoung.

Events include It’s A Knockout and the Morecambe Sandcastle Festival on Saturday, plus guest appearances by actor brothers and soap stars Adam and Ryan Thomas (who play Adam Barton in Emmerdale and Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street respectively).

Sunday’s events include the parade of floats along the seafront, The Bay pop music live stage and a fireworks finale.
