Woman, 19, sexually assaulted on a dance floor in Morecambe

The alleged attack took place at Popworld, inside the Kings Arms, Marine Road East at around 3am on Thursday, July 18.

A man is alleged to have approached the 19-year-old victim, who had been in the company of a friend, on the dance floor.

The victim said he began dancing with her before forcibly kissing her face and neck.

She said he then pushed her against a wall, where he proceeded to sexually assault her.

Security staff then intervened and the man was swiftly made to leave the club.

A spokesperson for Popworld in Morecambe said: "We are assisting police with their investigation into the alleged incident that took place just before closing time on Wednesday night and have supplied CCTV footage."

Police said the man is described as about 5ft 5ins, with short dark hair and spoke with a foreign accent.

The victim said he was wearing a distinctive dark top which featured a floral/leaf motif, denim jeans and white Adidas trainers.

DC Sarah Chadwick, from Lancaster CID, said: "The victim was enjoying a night out with her friend when a man has not only kissed her against her will, but has pushed her into a corner where she was seriously abused.

"Thankfully she was able to get the attention of a member of staff who alerted security.

"We need anyone who may recognise the man in these images to speak to us as soon as possible."
