"I’d heard about drawing pins being thrown on the promenade a few weeks before, and started looking for more tacks.

"Between the area opposite the town hall and walking about 200 metres back towards Broadway we picked up over 80 scattered tacks on the promenade path.

"It was obviously a deliberate act of vandalism, and we had a long walk home.

"When I shared my post the reaction from people made it clear that this was at least the fourth time this has happened.

"Even though my post has been shared 80 times already, there will still be people oblivious to the hazard.

"There were wheelchair users, parents with children on their bikes and with attachments and dogs walking along too, so it’s not just adult cyclists that are affected.

"I will be cycling along the promenade on the road from now on."
