A man who had to scrap two cars after paint stripper was poured over them deliberately is offering a reward to help catch the perpetrators.
The cars were parked on the drive and the road at Cleveleys Avenue in Lancaster when they were targeted between 8pm on Christmas Eve and 4am on Christmas Day.
The man, who does not wish to be named, said: “We had walked the dogs and parked up and both cars were fine.
“On Christmas Day morning we woke up and found both cars had been stripped back and will have to be scrapped.
“We have to dip into our savings to buy another car.
“I phoned the police up and will be offering a reward of £1000 which will be paid in full upon a successful prosecution.
“These people are nasty bits of work and I believe they will boast about their handiwork to their friends.
“The reward is to test the loyalty of their friends. I am having 500 flyers printed and will be putting them through the doors on the street, shops and pubs.
“I want to shake the tree enough for something to come out. I would pay £1000 if I could put a face to the person who ruined my Christmas Day.
“We had a great day despite what happened.” Police said the offenders approached cars between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and poured corrosive liquid over the two cars, causing damage, before leaving the scene.
Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting crime number WB1402322, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
There will be a reward of £1000 for information leading to a prosecution.
