A prisoner spent half the weekend on the run after he gave his escort officer the slip, police said.
David Osbaldeston told staff at Lancaster Farms that he had taken an overdose.
As a result, he was rushed to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary in the early hours of Sunday. But somehow the 20-year-old managed to abscond, sparking a Lancashire Police appeal.
He was apprehended at an address in Accrington, East Lancashire, where he is originally from, at around 8am on Monday.
Police said they had been negotiating with Osbaldeston, jailed in September 2011 for motoring offences and assault, since 5pm on Sunday.
Before being captured, Osbaldeston had spent 15 hours on the roof of a house.
Police said that he came down ‘without incident’.
Soon after, he was arrested on suspicion of escaping lawful custody, threats to kill and criminal damage.
Osbaldeston was nearing the end of a 30-month jail term.
