Police search for Morecambe girl, 16, who disappeared in the early hours of the morning

A police search is underway for a 16-year-old girl who went missing in the early hours of this morning (Friday, August 28).

Sophie O’Dere, 16, from Morecambe, was last seen in Hothersall Lane, near Longridge, at 3.55am today.

Police say Sophie, who has links to Leyland, Manchester, London and Llandudno in Wales, could be trying to travel to the capital - possibly via Preston Train Station.

She is described as 5ft 5ins tall, with short, black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple top, blue jeans and sandals.

PC Becky Jones, of Lancashire Police, said: "We are becoming more and more concerned by Sophie’s welfare and would ask anybody who sees her to contact police straight away.

"Similarly, if Sophie sees this appeal then I would urge her to get in contact with us and let us know she is OK."
