Police have issued a warning after a suspected bogus caller tried to gain entry to a house in Lancaster.

Officers were alerted to an incident in Westbourne Road, where a resident reported a visit from someone claiming to be from United Utilities.

"Please do not automatically believe people who claim to be apart of these organisations and always request some form of ID and do not give away any of your own personal information,” said PCSO Leon Hubbard.

"We will be keeping an eye on the area and confronting anyone who we believe to be partaking in such behaviour.

"Thankfully in this instance the bogus caller was frightened off due to our informant’s suspicions and the police were rightfully informed.

"Stay vigilant and trust your gut when it comes to these situations!”
