A PERVERTED pensioner who sexually abused three young girls – two of them in Lancaster – has been locked up for 10 years.
Bryan Griffiths, 76, first abused an eight-year-old girl in Bradford in 2009 and 2010, and then again in Lancaster in January this year, when he molested a five-year-old girl and a seven-year-old girl on the same day.
After the first occasion, police had not been called by the victim’s family, because he had agreed to have counselling through a church, Burnley Crown Court heard.
Griffiths, formerly of Stackshead Caravan, Tatterhorn Lane, Ingleton, but more recently of Hove Road, St Annes, told the girls not to tell anybody what had gone on.
When he was finally arrested in January the grandfather claimed he was not sexually aroused by children and could not explain his behaviour.
Griffiths admitted six counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, one allegation of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and two charges involving serious sexual assaults on a child under 13. He had no previous convictions.
