An elderly man was targeted by burglars who tried to break into his house.
Police said the attempted burglary took place on Lister Grove in Heysham sometime between 3pm and 9pm on Saturday, May 18, when someone approached the bungalow of a man aged in his 90s and used a ladder to climb a 9ft wall onto the victim’s balcony.
The offender then tried to break in through a rear wooden door and a bedroom window but having failed he fled the scene.
DC Paul Donnelly from Lancaster CID said: “It would appear that the premises have been deliberately targeted, most likely because it’s a bungalow and the victim is perceived to be elderly and vulnerable.
“I’d urge any witnesses who saw anything suspicious in the Lister Grove, Heysham area around the time of the offence to come forward and call 101.
“The victim is elderly and lives alone and this has left him very shaken and wondering what would have happened if they had got in when he was at home.”
