Motorist arrested for drug driving offences after police pursuit on A6 Garstang

A motorist who failed to stop for police was arrested for drug driving offences after a pursuit on the A6 in Garstang.

A suspected drug driver was arrested by police after a positive roadside test at approximately 4.18am today (March 22).

Officers from Lancashire Constabulary spotted a suspicious vehicle on the A6 in Garstang.

After failing to stop for police a pursuit ensued.

Officers deployed a 'metal snake' (also known as a stinger) to burst all four tyres of the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for drug driving offences after testing positive for cannabis.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Road Police said: "#T3IR spot suspicious vehicle on the A6 Garstang. It fails to stop and a pursuit ensues.

#T3TacOps further ahead deploy the metal snake which gets all 4 tyres and ends the pursuit.

"Driver then arrested for a positive roadside drug wipe for cannabis."
