A pregnant woman was punched and robbed as she walked with her child in a pram, a court heard.

Victim Rachel Worthington, who was 20 weeks pregnant, was walking to a shop just before 2pm when two men tried to lure her into an alleyway on Greendale Mews, Ashton, Preston, last October.

Defendant Donna Walton, 45, of Central Drive, Blackpool, laughed and chatted with her co-defendants in the dock at Preston Crown Court as she was jailed for 21 months after admitting assisting an offender.

Philip Kent, 41, of East Millwood Road, Speke, was jailed for five years after admitting two robberies, and Walton’s then partner, Roy Walker, 35, of Yew Tree Road, Blackpool, was jailed for 52 months after admitting robbery.

Recorder Sally Hatfield QC said: “ There were several aggravating factors. It was two against one and it was preplanned,”

Prosecuting, Graham Robinson said she had seen two men standing next to a post box who spoke to her.

He said: “She told them she was meeting someone and kept the phone line open to her partner whilst remaining where she was.”

Her partner, William Turner who she was on the phone to, heard everything that happened as Kent told her: “I’ve been sent.”

Kent grabbed her arm, ripped a charm bracelet from her wrist and snatched her phone from her hand, and stole her purse.

As she shouted Roy Walker punched her to the face.

Walton, who the court heard had suggested driving to Preston because Mr Turner had assaulted a relative previously, handed the robbers a dog lead to fight with.
