Man punched and kicked during assault

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in an unprovoked attack.

The incident happened at 6.30pm on Thursday, September 19, at the junction of Moor Gate and Ullswater Road outside Cutting Corners hairdressers.

The offender, a man, approached the victim from behind, jumped on him and proceeded to punch him to the floor. Once on the floor, he then continues to kick him to his body and his head before walking away.

The victim, a local man in his fifties, was fortunately only left with cuts and bruises.

DC Paul Donnelly said, “This would appear to be an unprovoked attack so we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward and contact us if they have any information they think could be of use to the investigation.”
