Lancaster man accused of pub knife attack faces a trial

A man who is accused of wounding with intent following an alleged knife attack in a pub is expected to appear before Preston Crown Court on Monday.

Police were called to the Pier Hotel in Marine Road Central, Morecambe, at 12.30am on January 12 last year to reports of an assault.

North West Ambulance Service also attended and a man in his 50s was taken to hospital to be treated for a laceration to his neck. He has since been discharged.

Alexander Lapinski, 58, of Aberdeen Road, Lancaster, previously entered not guilty pleas to wounding and possession of a bladed article.

An attempted murder charge was withdrawn.

He was previously remanded into custody and is expected to face a trial on January 18.

A hearing will take place ahead of this on Monday.
