An elderly couple believed to have been found buried in their back garden were said to have been planning to move to Morecambe.
William and Patricia Wycherley ‘disappeared’ in 1998 from their home in Blenheim Close, Forest Town, Nottinghamshire.
Last week, detectives were led to their house after a tip off about an incident which happened in the late 1990s, a spokesman said.
Two bodies were discovered in the garden of the house.
Formal identification has yet to take place but Det Chief Insp Rob Griffin who is leading the investigation, said: ‘It’s not a great leap to imagine’ to assume that the bodies are those of the missing couple.”
Neighbours of the couple said that they believed the Wycherleys had moved to the Morecambe area, while others said that they thought the pair had emigrated.
