Detectives have released an E-fit of a man they want to speak to after a handbag was stolen from an elderly couple’s Morecambe home.

A man knocked on their door in Carleton Street at around 12.15pm on November 4 and asked them if they needed any odd jobs doing.

After being allowed entry, the man chatted to the couple about any possible work before stealing the handbag from the dining room and leaving.

The suspect was described as white, around six feet tall and of heavy build.

He is aged between 50 and 55 with dark hair and a tanned complexion, possibly with a moustache, and spoke with a foreign accent.

He was said to be wearing a three quarter length dark brown leather jacket.

Detective Sergeant Fiona Jackson, from Morecambe CID, said: “This is a callous crime against a couple aged in their 80s in their own home and I would like to reassure people that we are doing all we can to find the person responsible.

“If anybody recognises the man in the Evofit then I would urge them to contact police.

“I am also still keen to speak with anyone who thinks they may have seen a man matching the description in the area.

“If you have any information at all, perhaps you may have also been cold called by this man, then please contact police - we would welcome any information from the public.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
