Double death probe in Lancaster
A major investigation was under way tonight after two men were found dead in a property in Lancaster.
A reader took this picture of police cars and ambulances in Meeting House Lane this afternoon as the probe began.
The focus appeared to be on a property around the railway bridge.
Lancashire police spokesman said: "We were called by North West Ambulance Service to an address on Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, at around 2.55pm today.
"On arrival, two men, one aged in his 30s and one in his 40s, were sadly found deceased inside the property.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths."
One Lancaster resident said: "We saw it on our way home but we had no idea what had happened.
"A police van came past us. The traffic is all backed up everywhere."
Another nearby resident said she could see at least six police cars and two ambulances and it seemed a "serious" incident.
The incident led to congestion in the city centre as the road was sealed off.
Traffic maps showed traffic slow moving and stopped in surrounding streets.
It is not known if the deaths are being treated as suspicious.
