A bus driver was punched in the face during an apparent road rage incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw a man assault the driver while he was driving the Number 5 bus from Overton to Euston Road.

The bus was stationary at the Delamere Avenue/Peel Avenue, Heysham, bus stop when the driver was approached by a man who had been driving a small black hatchback car.

Police said the vehicle had chrome on it and came from the direction of Heathfoot Avenue.

The attacker is described as white, in his early to mid thirties, 5ft-8-ins in height, with a roundish face and longish dark brown greasy hair worn with a side parting. He was wearing a white zip up hooded top with a silver pattern and white fur lining.
