Police are warning local communities to be vigilant when inviting strangers into their homes.

Police are asking the public to only let those they know and trust into their properties following a number of suspicious incidents reported in the South Cumbria area.

Detective Inspector Amanda Sadler said: “Following reports of strangers being found in people’s homes we are urging everybody, especially elderly people, to seek identification of any caller to their door and to not invite people into their home without good reason.

“We also want communities to report any suspicious activity to Police.”
