Police are hunting a vandal who cut fur coats worth £500 in a Lunesdale charity shop.

A sharp object was used to slash two items of clothing at the North West Air Ambulance’s Kirkby Lonsdale store on Friday, January 17.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened between 10am and 2pm inside the Main Street building.

Jackie Northover, head of retail at the North West Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We are saddened that stock worth £500 was purposely destroyed at our charity store in Kirkby Lonsdale, as this would have contributed to the funds needed to keep our helicopters flying and saving lives.

“We are continuing to work with Cumbria Police in their appeal for more information about the incident and we ask that any local residents with information contact Ian Rowlinson at Cumbria Police without delay.”
