Council turns off bus info panels

A DECISION to switch off the information boards at Lancaster Bus Station has been blamed on Goverment cuts.

Lancashire County Council said all its information display systems at bus stations across the county would be turned off, saving the authority £175,000.

The ones in Lancaster will be shut down on December 1.

The move was criticised by the Green Party.

County Coun Sam Riches said: “This is a dreadful decision. We need to be encouraging people to use public transport and these displays are very important for making this easy and convenient for people.”
